Metallica have announced a major US tour coinciding with the release of Death Magnetic. Of course they’re not coming to Louisville, but that’s okay (not many do). I will cross paths with KH again someday!

My favorite band on earth, My Morning Jacket (aka My Husband’s Band), are headed back to Europe in November so all you readers across the pond have something to look forward to. I should be on hand to report back with photos and mildly interesting anecdotes.

Death Cab For Cutie will entertain Koreans and Americans alike starting this weekend as they embark on a tour that keeps them on the road through October.

SXSW season has started in earnest, and I wonder who will be the breakout bands in ‘09? It’s been a great summer for ‘08 alums Fleet Foxes, Duffy, Katy Perry and the adorable Gil Mantera’s Party Dream.

Austin’s Amplified Heat have just been added to the amazing show tonight at Emo’s Annex with Supersuckers/Blue Cheer/Lions and others. They start at 7pm sharp and entry is FREEEEEEE! to anyone from 7-8pm. Get there early and bring some ear plugs, because this is one crazy heavy party trippin’ rock monster.

Dolly Parton has cancelled her appearance at SXSW due to health reasons. She really wanted to come and play for the SXSW attendees and the people of Austin, but her doctor says that she needs to stay home and rest for a few weeks. We wish Dolly a speedy recovery.

Come have dinner and a dose of comedy! The annual SXSW Welcome Dinner happens Wed. March 12 at 6:30pm with four courses at the Four Seasons Hotel. This year comedian Jonah Ray and comedy/musical duo Hard ‘n Phirm (both of Comedy Central fame) will entertain. Maybe Hard ‘n Phirm will even play “Rodeohead”, their bluegrass-style medley of covers of Radiohead songs!
