TUESDAY NEWS - RNC MAN TANS EDITION

Hello world… In between being on tour, watching the Democratic National Convention, Hurricane Gustav (good thoughts to all those affected by the storm), and now the Republican National Convention, I confess I’ve paid scant attention to what’s going on in the musical world.

Tonight’s convention coverage consisted of several lovely man tans, sported mainly by Fred Thompson and Joe Lieberman. Quelle impressive.

But I digress…

KCRW’s most excellent Sounds Eclectic: The Next One hit Amazon today. The CD, a fundraiser for the station (a favorite of mine as I’m also an avid Left, Right and Center listener. I wonder if I keep writing about them perhaps I can meet Arianna Huffington someday?), features exclusive in-studio performances from The Shins, Spoon, The Ting Tings, the delectable Sea Wolf and more.

Speaking of Sea Wolf, here’s a funny montage someone put together of Serena and Blair from my fave show Gossip Girl to SW’s “You’re a Wolf.”  I tried to find some SXSW footage, but the YT gods weren’t working for me tonight.

Santogold is heading out on her first headlining tour of the states. She’s headlining the Wiltern in LA, already? Damn. Nicely done.

Rodrigo y Gabriela are releasing a live album with bonus five track DVD on October 28 so that’s something to look forward to.  Live In Japan features the duo making their debut in Tokyo and will be released as a limited edition by ATO Records.

And finally, congrats to SXSW staffer Kathryn Lasater on the birth of her new kiddo.  Mazel Tov!

My cat, Bea Arthur, is going bonkers, lp
