AND NOW BACK TO OUR REGULAR PROGRAMMING…

Ahh, to be home! Two weeks of touring is enough! Lots of good fun, though, at Bonnaroo (Kirk Hammett!), Toronto (hung out with The Coast guys who were lovely), Montreal (where we had dinner with Brad and Andrew from The Slip and Brad rescued Carl’s earplugs) and Radio City Music Hall (the show and the landmark exceeded expectations).
But now I have a full month at home before Pemberton. Most excellent.
So, what’s been going on in the music world…
I see that Kanye West is defending his actions at Bonnaroo. I think he’s been tried in the court of public opinion, though, and people might not be buying. I did just see the Kanye/Murakami video for “Graduation” at the Murakami exhibit at the Brooklyn Museum and it was pretty darn cute.
Rolling Stone reports that Starbucks is reducing the presence of music in their stores. I confess that I have never purchased music at a Starbucks, but I did enjoy listening to M Ward while drinking my Frappucino the other day.
Be Your Own Pet have canceled their Warped Tour plans. I’m guessing Jemina isn’t too sad about not having to hang out with the denizens of the “new hair metal.”
Brooklyn Vegan covered the Ulrich Schnauss show that I am SUPER BUMMED to have missed as I left New York yesterday. Someday, Ulrich, I will get to bask in your German awesomeness.
And lastly, you can now buy Daniel Johnston’s frog!
Until tomorrow… please feel free to email us at musicblog@sxsw.com
The beat’s so lonely if you let it be that way! (Yes, I’m listening to Charlie Sexton right now.) lp
