Trent Reznor has more free music for you. Download the Lights in the Sky EP here and enjoy music from A Place to Bury Strangers, Does It Offend You, Yeah?, Crystal Castles, Deerhunter, and Nine Inch Nails.
American Idol runner-up David Archuleta signed a deal with 19 Records. I guess second place isn’t that bad since he’s now labelmates with winner David Cook. They can duke it out for record sales now that we know who captured 12 million more of America’s hearts.
Idolator ran a piece today about a new show called Bands Go Pop! where artists who are getting a bit long in the tooth are offered cosmetic services to liven them up a bit… so they can return to their former glory??? Seriously, is this real?? Botox for Bauhaus anyone? Shameful.
Yes has canceled their 40th Anniversary Tour due to Jon Anderson’s respiratory problems. Best wishes to Mr. Anderson for a speedy recovery. I think I still have 3 Ships on vinyl. In honor of Yes you can busy yourself by watching the video for “Leave It.” Fun fun!
Rolling Stone reports that Metallica debuted some new material to “positive results” (whatever that means). Damning with faint praise it sounds like, but I’m looking forward to seeing them at Bonnaroo and resuming my stalkeresque activities around Kirk Hammett. I heart him!
Okay, that’s all for now, kids. I hope you’re having a dandy week. Feel free to email us at musicblog@sxsw.com.
