Festival season is upon us! Grab your sunblock and get ready for Bonnaroo, Glastonbury, Roskilde, Pemberton, ACL and more…

Here’s a brief summary of who to expect where…

Bonnaroo - June 12-15 - Manchester, TN. Lineup includes Pearl Jam, Metallica, Kanye West, Chris Rock, Robert Plant and Alison Krauss featuring T Bone Burnett, My Morning Jacket The Raconteurs, Willie Nelson, Death Cab for Cutie, Sigur Rós, Levon Helm, M.I.A, Sharon Jones & the Dap-Kings, Tegan & Sara, Superdrag, José González, Vampire Weekend, Nicole Atkins, and Adele.

Superdrag??!! WOW. I am psyched. Don’t miss Bonnaroo if you’re nostalgic for your hippie days (whenever those were) and enjoy melting under the hot Tennessee sun.

Glastonbury - June 27 - 29 - Glastonbury, UK. Lineup includes The Fratellis, KT Tunstall, The Gossip, Jay-Z, Amy Winehouse, Crowded House, The Verve, Leonard Cohen, Neil Diamond, Joe Lean and the Jing Jang Jong, Massive Attack, The Wombats, The Cribs, MGMT, Lightspeed Champion, The Futureheads, Band of Horses, The National, Lupe Fiasco, Alabama 3, Joan Armatrading, Manu Chao, Eddy Grant, Sinead O’Connor, Tift Merritt, Pete Doherty, Dizzee Rascal, Santogold, My Morning Jacket, Billy Bragg, Fatboy Slim, and UNKLE.

Neil Diamond??!! WOW. I am very bummed I won’t be there. Don’t miss Glastonbury if you are looking for a true multi-cultural event (and don’t forget your flags)!

Roskilde - July 3 - 6 - Roskilde, Denmark. Lineup includes Cat Power, The Chemical Brothers, Duffy, The Duke Spirit, Gnarls Barkley, Goldfrapp, José González, Jay-Z, Judas Priest, Mogwai, My Bloody Valentine, Kate Nash, Radiohead, The Raveonettes, Slayer and Neil Young.

Judas Priest??!! WOW. I am very bummed to have skipped Roskilde for the last 12 years. Don’t miss Roskilde if you’re looking for an eclectic festival with no short supply of drunken Scandinavians peeing everywhere. That sounds bizarre, I know, but it’s one of the best festivals I’ve been to (free Magnum bars!!!).

Pemberton - July 25 - 27 - Pemberton, BC. Lineup includes Coldplay, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, Nine Inch Nails, Jay-Z, The Flaming Lips, The Crystal Method, Serj Tankian, Interpol, DJ Shadow and Cut Chemist, Wolfmother, N.E.R.D., My Morning Jacket, Matisyahu, The Secret Machines, Brazilian Girls, and The Airborne Toxic Event.

DJ Shadow and Cut Chemist??!! WOW. That will be yummeh. Nestled in the Coast Mountains just north of Whistler, my money is on Pemberton for best festival experience of the summer. I can’t wait. Don’t miss Pemberton if you want clean air, divine music and more Canucks than you can shake a stick at.

Austin City Limits - Sep 26 - 28 - Austin, TX. Lineup includes Foo Fighters, Beck, Manu Chao, David Byrne, The Mars Volta, Conor Oberst and the Mystic Valley Band, Erykah Badu, Patty Griffin, Iron & Wine, Neko Case, Silversun Pickups, The Black Keys, Galactic, Hot Chip, Blues Traveler, Roky Erickson, Del the Funky Homosapien, Louis XIV, Mates of State, Abigail Washburn and the Sparrow Quartet featuring Béla Fleck and Bobby Bare, Jr.

Béla Fleck??!! WOW. I heart Béla Fleck. He is a banjo GOD. Don’t miss ACL if you’re looking for a consistently great lineup and enjoy having your brain resemble something like the ‘this is your brain on drugs’ ad due to the scorchaton that is an Austin summer.

Okay, I know I’ve left out some goodies like Reading/Leeds, Lollapalooza and The V Festival, but the season only lasts so long!
