THE SXSW AGGRAVATOR - MY MORNING JACKET

I have some more Pick Three Wrap-Ups for you, but we’re experiencing some “technical opportunities” here at SXSW so in the meantime, I’m going to introduce a new feature for the SXSW Bloggy called The SXSW Aggravator. Named by the ultra groovy Melissa Dennis… okay, maybe it was a slip of the tongue on the word “aggregator,” but I thought, goodness, that’s clever, we’ll just call it that. You got some crack minds over here, let me tell ya.

So, of course I’m going to start with the hubs’ band because I’m cheesy like that and they made quite a little splashy at the fest this year doing a show at the Austin Music Hall and then Jim played solo at St. David’s (which was mind blowingly awesome, I must say).

But The SXSW Aggravator isn’t about what I have to say, it’s about what our music writer pals (and perhaps I use the term ‘pals’ loosely, but aren’t strangers just friends you’ve never met?) are posting…

James Montgomery at MTV wrote a bitchin’ review of the show. He even stayed for the whole thing, which I thought was totally neato.

Rolling Stone’s David Fricke compared them to Led Zeppelin, which is pretty heavy.

NPR recorded the show and took some pics. You can listen to the show if you missed it.

Dave Maher at Pitchfork said nice things.

And finally…

The Daily Texan’s Callie Richmond took some killer shots.

I hope you’ve enjoyed this inaugural edition of The SXSW Aggravator. Melissa Dennis will be aggravating you some more this week.

As always, you can email me at musicblog@sxsw.com. Drop me a line, tell me who you want to win Dancing with the Stars. Subscribe to our kickass feed here. Yay. Now you will be alerted when we write things!
