PICK THREE - CARY CALDWELL OF SXSW
Cary Caldwell, one of our temporary Kiwis (did you know they’re called Kiwis after the bird and not the fruit?!), and all around lovely and helpful sort, works in Event Planning, speaks German and is an accomplished chef who makes a mean pasta concoction with… bananas.
Here’s his Pick Three for SXSW ‘08
Liam Finn (New Zealand): I saw Liam play about 4 months ago in New Zealand and it was the best gig I’ve ever seen ever in my life - the way he (and the other member of his act) utilises loop and effects pedals and vox mics needs to be seen and heard to be believed. Plus he’s a friend and a fellow kiwi…so must represent.
Ida Maria (Sweden): Don’t know much about her, except that one of her tracks ‘Oh My God’ is…well…OMG, f***ing brilliant…and one of the things you do at SXSW is to check out artists you don’t know much about.
The Slits (UK): I’m basing this on the fact that I used to love the first Slits and the New Age Steppers albums a million years ago and would want to see them perform live a) because I never have and b)…ummm…because I never have
