London Based Avant-Dubbists Dokkebi Q to Appear at SXSW ‘08

Dokkebi Q
Taking a cue from spaced out dub pioneer Lee “Scratch” Perry, London based Dokkebi Q take traditional dub sounds and skew them into hyper-extreme hybrids that borrow heavily from drum and bass, glitch and psychedelia (they call it DEATH DUB).

Their debut CD Questions, saw a limited release through their own 3QREQ and is full of rhythms that will confuse and inspire the most open minded music aficionado.

Vocalist Kiki Hitomi is an illustrator and a musician living in London, whose work has been seen on T-Shirts by Etnies and on the Heroin Skateboard brand. She formed Dokkebi Q when she met Gorgonn, - a Japanese producer from Dalston, an area where many immigrants from around the world live. Their sound reflects the diversity of their neighborhood, and the chaos of London’s city streets.
