As word spreads throughout the music world of South By Southwest’s commitment to showcasing the most cutting edge hip-hop, more and more artists are coming to the festival with label showcases and exciting events. One showcase that we are really excited to announce is headed up by Tech N9ne and his label Strange Music.

This will be Tech’s first trip to SXSW and he plans to make it a big one. Hailing from Kansas City, Tech N9ne has been a stalwart in the underground rap community for years. He’s worked with such luminaries as E-40, Rick Rock, QDIII and even the late 2 Pac, but has always maintained his own lane, creating street rap music with the energy of the hardest rock and roll. This is no rock-rap act though, his balls out rock and roll approach to performing has earned him the reputation as one of the most volatile live performers in hip-hop.

And his Strange Music label is home to a cadre of similar acts like Krizz Kaliko, Skatterman & Snug Brim, Kutt Calhoun and Prozak. All of whom will accompany Tech N9ne to SXSW ’08.

SOUNDCHECK Magazine is an Austin based publication that provides coverage and reviews of local, national and international artists, in print and online. It’s been well over a year since it first started, and during that time they’ve showed endless support to local music. They’re continuing that tradition at their Winter Showcase tomorrow night at Emo’s Lounge, at the corner of 6th St. and Red River. The show features the music of Moth, Micah P.
